Problem
Employees were struggling to find their way around the app and reach content easily. The main goal was to design a simpler, more intuitive navigation system that allowed users to access features faster and discover more content, all while improving the overall user experience.
My Role
I led the redesign of the app’s navigation structure, collaborating closely with the product and development teams to create a more modular experience. My responsibilities included: Defining the new information architecture Designing UI layouts aligned with the modular structure Integrating the search bar and hamburger menu to simplify exploration Conducting user interviews to identify key pain points in navigation In addition, I focused on improving the user experience of our most frequently used features, Expert Appointments and Challenges, by giving them dedicated homepages and clearer visibility within the app.
Research & Insights
End Users, had troubles finding features and content.
HR Stakeholders, found the navigation bar confusing.
HR Teams, said employees were missing announcement.
Process
Information Architecture
The previous app structure had five main tabs: Home, Social, Market, Improve, and Profile. However, the most-used features were scattered under Social and Improve, causing confusion. From a business perspective, we also aimed to make the product more modular, so clients could customize their experience while we improved scalability and sales flexibility. My role was to translate this strategic decision into a clear, user-friendly information architecture that supported modularity.
Wireframes & Flows
Once the architecture was defined, I created early wireframes and user flows to visualize how users would move through the new structure. The focus was ensuring they could access different modules from a central point without feeling lost. We tested early prototypes to validate the new search and hamburger menu concepts with both internal teams and HR stakeholders, allowing us to identify issues early and reduce costly design revisions.
Design
In the visual design phase, my goal was to make the modular structure visually clear and easy to navigate. I introduced: A clean, flexible UI system with modular cards Minimal iconography for clarity A new ‘Stories’ area for HR teams to post and pin company announcements The Stories feature not only enhanced communication but also gave HR teams a visible, dynamic space to engage employees.
Iterations
Based on feedback from early reviews: Announcements visibility: We added a pinning option to the Stories feature. Homepage personalization: Modules were reordered based on usage frequency. Feed redesign: The company’s social and internal updates were moved back to the homepage for better visibility. These iterations made the homepage more functional and contextually relevant for both employees and HR teams.
Final Version
In Version 6.0, the app evolved into a modular “super app”, where all features are organized under flexible, discoverable modules. The new homepage highlights frequently used features, while the Stories section enhances internal communication. The Feed returns to the center of the experience, strengthening social interaction within companies. Overall, Version 6.0 became a major step in Wellbees’ product evolution, improving usability, flexibility, and strategic value for HR.
Outcome & Impact
The redesigned app delivered: Faster access to key features A smoother discovery experience Increased user engagement and satisfaction The Stories section improved internal communication and visibility for HR announcements.
The hamburger menu unified company-related services in one space, strengthening Wellbees’ role as an all-in-one workplace wellbeing hub.
Employees reported that the new version felt more modern, intuitive, and personalized, and appreciated easier access to core features like Challenges and Expert Appointments.
